![]() As shown in Table 1, the WIC groups under study differed in sociodemographic composition. ![]() We used descriptive statistics (i.e., frequencies, means and SDs) to characterize the sample. Children classified as late dose were those who enrolled in WIC between the ages of 2 and 3 y, had at least 1 weight and height measurement per year, and had at least 1 measurement after the age of 4 y (minimum 2 measurements total). ![]() Children classified as full dose were those who enrolled in WIC at birth (i.e., within 42 d of birth, as defined by WIC), had at least 1 weight and height measurement per year, and had at least 1 measurement after the age of 4 y (minimum of 5 measurements in total). Within these 2 groups, we identified children who received a full dose of WIC, that is, throughout ages 0–4 y (inclusive), and those who received a late dose of WIC, that is, for ages 2–4 y (inclusive) only ( Figure 1). Children who reached age 5 y before 1 October 2009 comprise the old food package group, and children born after 1 October 2009 comprise the new food package group. ![]() We compared children who participated in WIC in Los Angeles County and received the old food package with children who received the new food package, as well as those who received a full dose of WIC compared with those who received a late dose of WIC ( Figure 1).
